Spencer Dress and Jacket Review

I guess this has been out for some time, but I was just contemplating this today.

I had to design and sew a Regency gown, woman sized, for a very evil costuming professor. Ok, not evil, just demanding. I wrote a 15 page research paper on Georgian-era women's fashions. The details on Josefina's dress and jacket are right on.

The dress and jacket are perfect, down to the seams on the jacket and the decorations on the dress.

This is the only era of historical fashion I know more than just a tiny bit about, and I am very impressed with American Girl's design.

Also, another one of my professors from college told me that the American Girl historic clothes are all very accurate, and that she knows history and costuming professors that have been consulted in the development of the AG product line!

Very interesting! I majored in Fashion Design, & LOVED studying past styles. I know that AG is about a exact as they can be considering they are clothes for kids to dress their dolls in. They are also made to be used unlike many dolls. That is also why Elizabeth has the dress she has...it has nothing to do with "Barbie." I think it is quite extraordinary the lengths AG will go to be accurate. Like I've said before...they are a class act, and rarely miss a beat. That is cool your professor knows the people working with AG.

Josefina's Empire fashions are just incredible! I'm still in awe over her summer dress and all of the wonderful little details they put in. The plantation I work at dresses in Empire and we make every effort to get it as correct as possible, right down to reproducing real dresses that we find on the Internet.
